Service Description

***Registration closes February 11, 2025to allow time for shipping materials*** Increase your community's ability to train first aiders, lifeguards, and teach swimming lessons under the direction of our experienced National Trainer. Get certified in 1-4 Lifesaving Society Instructor streams; Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor, First Aid Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor. Participants will attend 4-7 virtual sessions throughout spring 2025 followed by one in-person skill demonstration weekend at the Penguin Palace Pool in Norman Wells, NT*. Swim Instructor Prerequisites: minimum 15 years old and certified in Bronze Cross** or higher (need not be current). Required Course Dates: Virtual: March 4, 11, 18, 25 In-person in Norman Wells: May 9, 10, 11 Can teach: Lifesaving Society Swim for Life (swim lessons), Swim to Survive, Canadian Swim Patrol, and Water Smart. Lifesaving Instructor Prerequisites: minimum 15 years old and certified in Bronze Cross** or higher (need not be current). Required Course Dates: Virtual: March 4, 11, 18, April 1 In-person in Norman Wells: May 9, 10, 11 Can teach: Lifesaving Society Canadian Swim Patrol, Bronze Medals, and CPR/AED. First Aid Instructor Prerequisites: minimum 18 years old and certified in current WSCC approved Workplace First Aid**. Required Course Dates: Virtual: March 4, 11, 18, April 8 In-person in Norman Wells: May 9, 10, 11 Can teach: Lifesaving Society CPR and First Aid programs. National Instructor Prerequisites: minimum 2 years experience as a National Lifeguard, current National Lifeguard, and Lifesaving Instructor** (need not be current). Required Course Dates: Virtual: March 4, 11, 18, April 15 In-person in Norman Wells: May 10, 11 Can teach: Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Fee Selection: The base fee for one instructor stream in $750 with an additional $250/stream thereafter. Candidates may attend as many streams as they qualify for. Please select the fee option that applies to you. Contact us if you need assistance selecting your fee option. *Course fees do not include travel, accommodation, meal, or other travel related expenses. Participants are responsible for covering all travel related expenses to attend the in-person weekend in Norman Wells, NT. **Candidates must meet all prerequisites by May 11, 2025.
